WC Board approves addition of golf, tennis, volleyball to athletics

Golf and tennis are returning to Weatherford College, and, for the first time in college history, the Coyotes will have a volleyball team.

Members of the WC Board of Trustees approved a four-year timeline during their meeting Thursday afternoon to reinstate and add these sports.

WC Athletic Director Bob McKinley thanked the board for their continued support in providing opportunities for students to excel in sports as he outlined the expansion of WC's athletic program.

Men's golf and women's tennis will return to WC with competition beginning in Fall 2021, women's volleyball will be added in Fall 2022 and women's golf and men's tennis will be added to the athletic lineup with competition in Fall 2023.

This timeline provides the college with ample time to hire coaches, recruit athletes, and make modification to the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center necessary for volleyball.

"We have one of the finest athletic programs in the state of Texas, and we look forward to that continuing," McKinley said. "The sports that we're talking about adding can do nothing but give us more visibility in not only in our community but in our state and nation."
