Members of the Weatherford College rodeo team claimed the women’s reserve All-Around title and one-half of the team roping title at the Odessa College Rodeo February 20-22.

WC freshman Mason Pitts and Wyatt Bray of Cisco College tied for third in the opening round of team roping with a run of 5.5, won the short go with a 5.8, and 11.3 on two head to take the overall event title. WC’s Garrett Sommer teamed up with Tarleton’s Jhett Trenary, and Southwest Region leaders Lane Cooper and Blake Bentley placed in the opening round and finished eighth and ninth respectively. Jesse Hines and Ranger College’s Cutter Duckett placed 10th for the weekend.

Freshman Kody Hoss won third in the opening round of barrel racing and then placed in both rounds of goat tying to win the reserve All-Around.

Kinlie Brennise placed in both rounds and won fourth in breakaway roping while Faith Holyan finished tenth in that event.

Hadley Miller made the short go in two events, winning fourth overall in bull riding and tenth in tie down roping. Gage Gleghorn also placed ninth in tie down roping.

After six rodeos this season, Cooper and Bentley remain in the lead of the team roping Southwest Region standings. Hoss is third in goat tying, Miller is fourth in bull riding, and Thane Lockhart (tie down) and Sara Angelone (breakaway) are in the top five of their event standings.

The WC men’s team remains in fourth place while the women’s team is sixth out of 16 teams.
