The McLennan Community College softball team, ranked No. 16 in the nation, swept Weatherford College in WC's first conference doubleheader of the season Saturday in Waco.

MCC (15-2 overall, 4-0 in conference) took the first game, 4-3. WC lost despite out-hitting MCC 11 to 8. Weatherford's Stephanie Jimenez went 4-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI.

The second game was an 11-7 MCC win. Genesis Rodriguez hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning for the Highlassies. Weatherford's Pyra Burns went 2-for-4.

WC is 8-8 overall. The Coyotes return to Stuart Field Wednesday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Vernon College.
