The Weatherford College softball team split a doubleheader with North Central Texas College in Gainesville Friday.
Weatherford won the first game 8-2. Annabelle Guay's solo home run in the top of the sixth inning broke a 2-2 tie and WC went on to score five more runs to seal the win.
Averie Gunther was 3-for-4 with one run scored. Guay and Darlene Montoya were each 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Teoni Lamb struck out five and gave up four hits and two runs over four and a third. Chloe Sales earned the win with two and two-thirds innings of shutout pitching.
NCTC took the second game, 5-4. Raylea Parsons hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh for the Lions.
Gunther and Lilly Bean were each 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Amelia Hatthorn gave up two hits and two earned runs in five innings while striking out five.
WC is 31-8 overall and 16-4 in conference play.
Next up for the Coyotes is a four-game series against Temple College. WC travels to Temple on Wednesday and then returns to Stuart Field Saturday, April 15, for a noon doubleheader with the Leopards.
