The Weatherford College softball team took both games of a key conference doubleheader with Temple College Saturday at Stuart Field.
Carter Smith added to her school-record stolen bases total with three on the day. The sophomore outfielder from Rowlett ranks No. 8 in the nation in stolen bases with 39 on the season.
WC won the first game 8-6. Lilly Bean turned in a 3-for-4 performance with a home run and four RBI.
Teoni Lamb earned the win in relief, allowing two hits and no earned runs in three innings while striking out four.
Game two was a 9-6 Coyote win. WC built a 7-2 lead but held off a late rally as the Leopards scored four runs in the fifth inning.
Smith was 3-for-4 and four runs scored. Lilly Bean had three RBI.
Amelia Hatthorn scattered seven hits over four and two-thirds, earning the win with three walks and three strikeouts.
The Coyotes improved to 33-10 overall and 18-6 in conference play, good for third place in the NTJCAC, two games back of second-place McLennan Community College.
WC faces Cisco College in a four-game series, beginning with a Wednesday doubleheader on the road and returning to Stuart Field on Saturday, April 22, for a noon doubleheader.
