WC finishes regular season, Lady Coyotes prep for regionals

The Weatherford College basketball teams finished the regular season against McLennan Wednesday night in the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center. The Lady Coyotes won 76-68 and clinched a spot in the Region V tournament. The Coyotes lost 80-52 in their last game of the 2018-19 season.

Four WC women finished in double figures: River Romine (19 points), Destiny McAfee (15), Grace Daniels (13) and Andreja Peciuraite (10).

Bob McKinley's squad ended the regular season 19-7 overall and 10-6 in Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play. WC will be the third seed from the NTJCAC in the regional tournament scheduled for March 6-9 at Moody Coliseum in Abilene. The Lady Coyotes will open the tournament Wednesday night at 7 p.m. against the No. 2 seed from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference, to be determined.

In the men's game Wednesday, Ke'lyn Adams led WC with 14 points. MCC's Mike Adewunmi and Willie Thomas also had 14. The Coyotes finished the season 13-16 overall and 4-10 in conference.
