Collin wins two over WC

The Weatherford College basketball teams travelled to Plano Wednesday and lost both games at Collin College, 74-52 in the women's game and 83-67 for the men.

The Collin women's team, the top squad in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference, was led with 19 points by Destiny Thurman. WC's Destiny McAfee scored 13 points and Diamond Sweats added 10.

The Lady Coyotes are 22-6 overall and 10-4 in the NTJCAC. WC has a one-game lead over Grayson and Hill for second place in the conference with just two games remaining in the regular season.

In the men's game, five Cougars finished in double-figures, led by 18 points from Addison Wallace. Matthew Wages led Weatherford with 13 and Erik Talton had 10 off the bench.

The Coyotes are 15-13 overall and 3-9 in conference.

WC will play its final home games of the season Saturday against McLennan Community College. The women will tip off at 2 p.m. and the men at 4 p.m. in the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center.
