WC drops both games in home finale

Hill College came to the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center and took two basketball games from Weatherford College Saturday afternoon.

The Hill women defeated WC 89-59. The Lady Rebels shot 58.3 percent from the field and made 12-of-24 three-pointers.  Destiny McAfee scored 14 points for Weatherford and Anna Jefferson-Polk added 12.

Fortunately, the Lady Coyotes have clinched a spot in the upcoming Region V Tournament in Abilene. WC (22-7 overall, 10-5 in conference) can finish no lower than fourth place in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference standings with one game remaining at McLennan Wednesday, and second place is still a possibility for Bob McKinley's squad.

In the men's game Saturday, the Rebels beat the Coyotes 87-78. WC's Aaron Heft scored 20 points and Matthew Wages added 17. Hill's Tyler Kinghorn led all scorers with 22.

The WC men (15-14, 3-10) have a chance to finish the season with a winning record at McLennan Wednesday.
