Coyote volleyball wins 14th straight
WC claimed the outright conference title with a dominant sweep of North Central Texas College.
The No. 6 Weatherford College volleyball team won their 14th straight match with their 15th sweep of the season on Saturday over North Central Texas College at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center.
WC had secured at least a share of the conference title Wednesday; the Saturday win clinched the outright title in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.
The first set was hard-fought, with WC winning 25-21. Weatherford won the second set 25-15 and the third 25-10.
Weronika Urbanska led the team in kills with 13 and Gabriela Maldonado added 12.
Lorena Gomez tallied 21 assists and Victoria Sanchez had 13.
Urbanska and Kiana Souza turned in 13 digs apiece.
With a No. 1 seed in the upcoming Region V Tournament locked up, WC plays out the regular season with their home finale on Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Cisco College and a road trip to Hillsboro on Saturday to face Hill College. The regional tournament is in Roswell, New Mexico, Nov. 7-9, hosted by No. 3 New Mexico Military Institute.
