Coyotes position shifts in NJCAA polls
The National Junior College Athletic Association released its Division I rankings Monday, and after five weeks at No. 1, the Weatherford College baseball team went to No. 4.
The Coyotes (27-7), while missing two starting pitchers due to injury, split a four-game series with Grayson last week, while previous No. 2 Louisiana State University Eunice (34-1) went undefeated. LSUE took over the top spot with nine of 10 first place votes.
The next-highest ranked Region V program is Midland College, coming in at No. 7. The Chaparrals (30-4) have steadily climbed the poll this year after being unranked in the preseason. McLennan Community College is No. 20, up four spots.
In softball, Weatherford dropped one spot to No. 18 in this week's poll. WC (25-9) lost three of four last week to No. 5 Grayson College.
The softball poll also includes No. 4 McLennan, No. 9 Odessa College and No. 12 Temple College.
The NJCAA polls are sponsored by Netting Professionals.
