Two player performances earn honors
April 1, 2025
Last week, the Weatherford College baseball team had two players named the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Pitcher and Player of the Week.
Freshman Trent Collier was the NTJCAC Pitcher of the Week. A native from Prosper, Collier helped the Coyotes claim victory over rival Cisco College by pitching a 10-strikeout game.
Collier pitched a complete game, going 19 of 20 on strikes in his first pitch tosses to batters. The Coyote lefty limited the Wranglers to only four hits on the day.
Aledo native Trace Mazon was the NTJCAC Position Player of the Week. This is the second time Mazon has been named player of the week this season.
Batting .533, Mazon knocked out three home runs and had a seven RBI week. In their 12-4 win over Cisco in Game 1 alone, the Coyote third baseman blasted two home runs. He also scored eight total runs, drew two walks and stole a base.
WC will finish their four-game series at Grayson College in Denison this Saturday, March 29. The Coyotes (27-5 overall, 11-3 conference) will return home Saturday, April 5 against Ranger College. The doubleheader will begin at noon at Roger Williams Ballpark.
