Bio

Jeff Lightfoot has spent 26 years as a head college baseball coach, including 22 years as the only head coach in the modern era of Weatherford College baseball.

Entering the 2025 season, Lightfoot has amassed an 864-552-1 overall record, including four years at Eastfield College in Mesquite and 22 years at Weatherford College.

His Eastfield team won the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III World Series championship in 2001 after advancing to the title game in 1998. The Harvesters were ranked first in every NJCAA Division III poll during their championship season.

In his four years as head coach at Eastfield, Lightfoot posted a 143-72 record. He is a two-time winner of each of the following awards: Texas-New Mexico Division III Coach of the Year, the Louisville Slugger Award for excellence in coaching, the Diamond Sports Company Region V Coach of the Year, and the Division III College World Series Coaching Award. In 2001, he earned National Coach of the Year honors from the NJCAA.

Moving up to the NJCAA Division I level at Weatherford College, Lightfoot’s squads have posted a 721-480-1 record since 2003. The 2023 season was the best in school history, as the Coyotes won the Region V championship and advanced to the NJCAA Division I World Series, taking third place. WC has won the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) championship three times (2004, 2023, 2024), made the regional finals three times and advanced to the fourth round of the regional tournament five times. Lightfoot has won the NTJCAC Coach of the Year Award three times (2004, 2023, 2024).

In 22 years, more than 150 former Coyotes have moved on to play baseball at universities across the nation, including more than 100 at NCAA Division I programs. 36 former Coyotes have played professional baseball including four major leaguers.

A 1988 graduate of Weatherford High School, Lightfoot holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master’s degree from Texas A&M-Commerce. In 2023, he was inducted into the Weatherford High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

In addition to his coaching duties, Lightfoot serves as WC’s assistant athletic director.

Jeff and his wife, Misti, have three children: Cole, Grayson and Canon. The Lightfoot family attends Willow Park Baptist Church.
