WC women’s golf finishes 2nd in Brenham
Haas-Black and Haros place in top five at Buccaneer Invitational
The Weatherford College women's golf team finished in a tie for second place at the Buccaneer Spring Invitational in Brenham April 7-8.
WC, ranked No. 12 in the nation, finished behind host Blinn College, ranked No. 7, and tied with No. 10 McLennan. Weatherford had a seven-stroke improvement in the second round, shooting 318 as a team the first day and 311 the second.
The Coyotes were led by Catherine Haas-Black, who finished tied for second out of 41 golfers with rounds of 76 and 74, or six-over-par. The sophomore from Arlington Heights finished strong, carding three birdies in the final four holes of the tournament.
Corrina Haros was fifth at 11-over (77-78). Emily Gutierrez was 13th (84-77) and Ella Barton tied for 19th (83-85).
The tournament was played at Brenham Country Club.
Next, the Coyotes will play in the TXWES Spring Invitational at Squaw Creek Golf Course in Willow Park April 14-15.
