Baseball clinches postseason with Cisco sweep

The Weatherford College baseball team clinched a berth in the Region V Tournament with a doubleheader sweep at Cisco College Thursday, 3-2 and 6-0.

WC will enter regionals as the fourth seed from the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference. The tournament will be May 13-16 at Christensen Stadium in Midland.

In game one Thursday, Kade Bragg went six and one-third innings, giving up just two hits and two runs with 11 strikeouts. Austin Green went from playing second base to the mound, delivering two key outs of relief with no hits and a strikeout.

Kooper Shook had the go-ahead RBI single in the top of the seventh.

Weatherford sophomore Bristol Carson took the mound in game two for his first WC start, going the full nine innings with five hits, no runs, one walk and seven strikeouts.

Cal Stark was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk. Chase Pendley was 2-for-4.

The Coyotes (35-18 overall, 16-14 conference) have one home regular season doubleheader remaining Saturday against Cisco (29-25, 10-20). The doubleheader will begin at noon at Roger Williams Ballpark.
