Weatherford College's baseball and softball teams both moved up in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I rankings released Monday.
The baseball team climbed one spot to No. 16 in the nation. The Coyotes were 27-7 overall after a sweep of Vernon this weekend and first place in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference at 10-2 in league play.
The WC softball team moved up three spots to No. 17. WC was 28-7 overall and 13-3 in conference play after winning six straight and eight of their last 10.
As a team, the Coyote baseball pitching staff has the second-best earned run average in the country at 2.80. WC's Ryne Rodriguez is No. 6 in the nation with a 1.24 ERA in nine appearances.
Softball standout Carter Smith is tied for ninth in the nation in stolen bases with 34.
