WC splits with Temple, Villeneuve breaks HR record

Weatherford College and Temple College split a baseball doubleheader at Roger Williams Ballpark Wednesday.

The Coyotes took game one 10-0. Robin Villeneuve hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. It was his 17th homer of the season, breaking the school record set by Tucker Oakley in 2010.

Jack Arthur went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Robert Fortenberry earned the win, scattering four hits over five innings with no runs, two walks and eight strikeouts.

Temple won the second game, 16-9. The Leopards scored six runs in the top of the third and four in the seventh.

Arthur went 4-for-5 with three runs scored. Joey Baran turned in four RBI.

WC, ranked No. 12 in the nation, is 32-9 overall and 15-3 in conference play. The Coyotes have a three-game lead over No. 16 McLennan Community College for first place in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.

Weatherford and Temple play again Saturday in Temple. The Coyotes return to Williams Ballpark on Wednesday, April 19, to face Cisco College.
