Weatherford College baseball added to its school-record season wins total, finishing off a sweep of Grayson with two more victories on Saturday at Roger Williams Ballpark. WC has won 10 games in a row.
The No. 9 Coyotes are 42-9 overall and 25-3 in conference play, having clinched the league title April 27.
Game one was a 9-2 Weatherford win. Ryne Rodriguez earned another "W," scattering five hits over six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out six.
Joey Baran was 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI along with two walks. Eddie Calzoncit was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Chase Pendley was 3-for-5 with an RBI.
Game two was a 14-8 win. Jack Arthur dominated at the plate, hitting three home runs in each of his three at-bats and driving in six.
Garrett McLaughlin got the win and Matthew Rheaume earned the save, allowing one hit over three and a third innings of relief, with one walk and four strikeouts.
WC heads into its final four-game series of the year at Ranger College on Wednesday and then at home on Saturday, May 6, for a noon doubleheader.
The Coyotes are hosting the Region V Tournament May 12-16 and will play their opening game of the tournament on Friday, May 12, at 1 p.m.
