The high expectations for the 2024 season keep rolling in for the Weatherford College baseball team. 

Perfect Game USA has named the Coyotes the No. 1 team in the nation in their "JUCO Top 50" poll released on Monday. 

"They have brought in loads of talent via the transfer portal to unite with a few impact returners," the site's writer said on perfectgame.org. "In 2024, it should be a balanced team with a fair share of upper-echelon talent on the pitching staff and in the heart of the order." 

After WC, Perfect Game's top five includes No. 2 Wabash Valley (Illinois), No. 3 McLennan, No. 4 Central Florida and No. 5 Blinn. WC, Wabash, Central Florida and Blinn were all 2023 Division I World Series participants, with Central Florida winning the national championship and the Coyotes finishing third. 

Meanwhile, the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference has released their coaches' poll for the 2024 baseball season, with the Coyotes picked to win the conference for the second straight year. 

McLennan was picked to finish second in conference, followed by Temple and Ranger for the third and fourth spots, respectively. Cisco, Grayson, Hill, Vernon and North Central Texas rounded out the poll.
