WC baseball breaks record with 30-0 win

With a 30-0 win over Lamar Community College in the second game of a doubleheader at Roger Williams Ballpark on Friday, the Weatherford College baseball team broke a school record for the most runs scored in a game.

The previous record of 22 runs was set in 2004 in a game at Hill College.

The Coyotes jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first inning and scored eight more runs over the next two frames.

Then came the bottom of the fourth, when WC put up 13 runs. Ryan Beaty was 3-for-3 in the fourth inning alone for Weatherford.

The game ended after the top of the fifth due to the run rule.

Trace Mazon went 3-for-4 with a whopping 9 RBI. Kasen Wells was 2-for-2 with four RBI and a run scored.

WC beat Lamar in all four games of the series to improve to 5-1 overall. The Coyotes are ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA Division I poll and No. 1 in the nation, according to Perfect Game USA.
