Coyotes split at Cisco

The No. 4-ranked Weatherford College baseball team split a doubleheader at Cisco College on Wednesday. 

WC took the first game 8-0. Robert Fortenberry was stellar again, allowing one hit, no runs and one walk while striking out three in another complete game win over seven innings. Fortenberry is the nation's leader in wins (9) and fourth in ERA (1.33) in NJCAA Division I. 

Luka Daoust went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Trace Mazon was 2-for-4 with an RBI. 

WC led game two 7-3 going into the bottom of the eighth, but Cisco scored five runs in that frame and won 8-7. Cisco's Jake Mueller was 4-for-5 with four RBI. 

Weatherford's Miguel Luevano was 4-for-4 with three runs scored. Mazon had three RBI and went 2-for-5.  

The Coyotes and the Wranglers will face off again Saturday in a noon doubleheader at Roger Williams Ballpark. 

WC is 30-8 overall and in first place in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference with a 12-2 league record.
