Coyotes give up two hits in doubleheader

Weatherford College completed a series sweep of Ranger College with two wins on Sunday, 5-0 and 12-0. The games were played at Clyde High School due to field conditions at RC.

The WC pitching staff was stellar, using only two pitchers total and giving up just two hits over the two games.

Evan Brandt was the game one starter. Over seven innings he gave up two hits, no runs and two walks while striking out five.

Kasen Wells went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Dayton Tockey was also 2-for-3 with a walk.

Cade Crossland pitched his second no-hitter of the month in game two. The sophomore from Rockwall had no runs, three walks and 10 strikeouts over five innings.

Tockey hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning and finished with three RBI. Wells was 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

The four-game sweep of Ranger put WC at 36-12 overall and 18-6 in conference play.

The Coyotes have two series left in the regular season: vs. Hill College this week and McLennan Community College next week. WC will host Hill on Wednesday, April 24, in a noon doubleheader and MCC on Saturday, May 4, beginning at 3 p.m. at Roger Williams Ballpark.
