WC men win, women lose at Grayson

The Weatherford College men's basketball team improved to 20-5 overall with an 83-72 win over Grayson College Saturday in Denison. It was the Coyotes' fourth win in their last five games.

WC improved its conference record to 7-3.

Joe Madimba led all scorers with 27 points and nine rebounds. Rodney Johnson recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Ramondo Battle came off the bench for 16 points and eight rebounds. Jaden Rogers added 10 points.

The Coyotes shot 50.8 percent from the field and made nine three-pointers in the game. WC out-rebounded the Vikings 40 to 32.

In the women's game, No. 21 Grayson won 68-54.

WC (10-13, 3-8) held a one-point lead after the first quarter and trailed by only two at the half. But Grayson (22-4, 11-1) finished strong with a 22-point fourth quarter.

Celise Bobbitt led WC with 15 points. Helena Svilberg added 10 points and Adreanna Waddle pulled down 13 rebounds.

Diarra Sissoko led Grayson with 22 points.

Both Weatherford teams host Ranger College Monday night at the Graber Athletic Center, 5 and 7 p.m.
