Coyotes upset Clarendon in first round

The Weatherford College men's basketball team upset Clarendon College, the No. 18 ranked team in the nation, in the Region V Tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday, 65-62. 

The Coyotes made 12 of 13 free throws and pulled down 34 rebounds in the win. Clarendon's 62 points tied their lowest total in their last nine games. 

Joey Madimba led Weatherford with 21 points. Rodney Johnson and CJ Evans each added 12. Evans also had eight rebounds. 

WC advanced to the semifinal on Friday, March 10, at 1 p.m. against Ranger College, ranked No. 21 in the country. Ranger, the No. 1 seed from the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference, was pushed to overtime Wednesday by No. 4 seed South Plains but won 76-73.
