Coyotes beat Grayson on the road

The Weatherford College men's basketball team picked up a hard-fought road conference win on Saturday, beating Grayson College 76-73 in Denison. 

Jared Washington turned in a double-double to lead the Coyotes with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Washington is averaging 22.2 points per game, the best in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference. 

Jamie Hodges added 16 points, and Donato Joseph had 15. Handy Toussaint turned in 10 rebounds. 

The Coyotes made 11 three-pointers on 28 attempts. 

WC improved to 13-5 overall and 2-1 in the NTJCAC. Grayson dropped to 7-13 overall and 0-4 in conference. 

Grayson won the women's game 74-52. Kayla Jones led the Lady Vikings with 20 points and 12 rebounds. 

Weatherford had two players in double-figure scoring: Trinitee Johnson with 17 and Deja Lumsden with 10. 

WC moved to 5-11 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Grayson improved to 13-5 and 2-2. 

The Coyotes and Lady Coyotes will host Ranger College on Wednesday, Jan. 24. The women tip off at 5 p.m., and the men begin at 7 p.m. at the Graber Athletic Center.
