WC stopped by No. 15 Odessa in Region V Tournament

              Odessa College defeated Weatherford College 58-50 in the first round of the Region V Tournament Thursday at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center.

              The loss ended WC's season at 21-10 overall.

              Odessa (24-7), the No. 15 ranked NJCAA men's basketball team in the nation, advanced to face No. 2-ranked South Plains College in the tournament's semifinals Friday at 5 p.m., also at the Graber Center.

              After being down 47-27 with 12:24 remaining in the game, WC went on a 14-3 run to cut Odessa's lead to nine points with 5:19 remaining, but the Wranglers kept the Coyotes at bay in the closing minutes.

              WC's Jamie Hodges led all scorers with 18 points. Jared Washington added 10 points and seven rebounds.

              Willie Lightfoot led Odessa with 14 points.                                                   

              The Coyotes, led by head coach Chris Lewis, have posted 44 wins over the past two seasons, the highest two-year win total for the program in 25 years.
