Kodey Hoss placed first in goat tying and set a Weatherford College record at the Vernon College Rodeo this past weekend.

The WC women's rodeo team member placed sixth in the first round with a 6.9 run followed by a 6.1 in the finals – a new WC team record – that placed her on top of the competition with a 13.0 total.

Including Hoss, 10 members of the WC rodeo team qualified for Saturday night's finals including six freshmen.

Former College National Finals Rodeo team ropers Lane Cooper and Blake Bentley placed in both rounds to win the team roping title with a 12.7. The duo has won points at all three rodeos this season and now sits at the top of the Southwest Region standings.

Team members Kasen Brennise and Kash Cattoor placed ninth in team roping.

In calf roping, Thane Lockhart placed third, Parker Carbajal placed fourth and Brendan Bennett placed 10th. Faith Holyan placed third in breakaway roping and McKenna Hickson placed sixth. Kaitlyn Woodman placed sixth in barrel racing.

WC's next rodeo is October 10-12 at Frank Phillips College.
