Temple defeats WC on the road
Coyotes look to take the weekend
The No. 16 Weatherford College softball team faced defeat on Wednesday, dropping both games played against No. 13 Temple College, 4-3 in game one and 6-3 in game two.
The Coyotes now stand at 7-3 in conference play, 19-5 overall. The Leopards are 6-4 in conference, 23-8 overall.
After Temple College managed to put up one in the third and fourth innings, WC's Peyton Young brought in two runs with a sacrifice bunt, followed up by Zaniah Coleman hitting a single to score the third run and take the lead.
After the Leopards put up the tying run in the seventh, a walk off home run from Temple's Angie DeLeon sealed the deal.
Sarah Hanf threw for seven strikeouts and no walks. Alexah Reyes stole three bases in game one.
Game two was a tough one for the Coyotes. After a one-to-one tie in the bottom of the first, the Leopards put up four more at the end of four innings, clinching the win in six innings.
Softball will be back home at Stuart Field on Saturday, March 15, to finish the series against Temple College. Games begin at noon and 2 p.m.
