WC volleyball sweeps reigning Reg. V North Tourney champs

In a matchup of the last two unbeaten volleyball teams in conference play, Weatherford College swept Hill College in Hillsboro on Saturday afternoon, 25-17, 25-21, 25-21. WC improved to 4-0 in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference and 19-2 overall. 

Hill, now 3-1 in conference and 10-12 overall, won the 2022 Region V North Tournament championship, defeating WC in the finals. 

WC's Lorena Gomez registered 24 assists along with two kills and seven digs. Abby Benitez had 21 digs. Peighton Serda and Meagan Ledbetter each had nine kills, with Ledbetter adding 10 digs. 

The Coyotes have won nine straight matches and 27 straight sets. 

WC was ranked No. 8 in the country in the poll released on Sept. 18. The National Junior College Athletic Association will release another set of rankings the afternoon of Sept. 25. 

Weatherford will travel to Ranger College on Wednesday, Sept. 27, and return home to the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center on Saturday, Sept. 30, to face Temple College at 1 p.m.
