WC’s Puente named First Team All-American

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has named Weatherford College volleyball player Selanny Puente a Division I First Team All-American for the 2023 season.

Puente finished the season with the third-highest hitting percentage in the nation at .390. She also averaged 2.47 kills per set.

The 6-foot-4-inch middle blocker from the Dominican Republic made the All-Tournament team in the NJCAA National Championships in Hutchinson, Kansas, totaling 40 kills in 13 sets.

Puente was Offensive Player of the Year in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.

VolleyballMag.com also named Puente a DI All-American for the NJCAA.

In their second year of existence, the Coyotes finished eighth in the nation with their second straight conference championship and a 33-6 overall record.
