Jacinta Fonoti hit a two-run home run to give the Weatherford College softball team the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, and WC held on for a 2-1 win over Cisco College in the first round of the Region V-North Tournament in Waco on Thursday. 

WC had out-hit Cisco 5-1 through five innings but couldn't get a runner across home plate to that point. Fonoti's shot went over the center field wall in a very deep McLennan Community College outfield. 

Teoni Lamb threw a gem, allowing just one hit in seven innings with one run, two walks and eight strikeouts. 

Darlene Montoya was 2-for-3. 

The Coyotes improved to 38-14 overall. WC is scheduled to face McLennan in the second round tonight at 7 p.m. All tournament games are livestreamed on ESPN+.
