The Weatherford College softball team opened conference play on Wednesday at Stuart Field against McLennan Community College, the No. 1 team in the latest NJCAA Division I poll. 

WC forced game one into extra innings with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. But MCC put up two runs in the top of the eighth and took the win, 9-7. 

Weatherford's Lilly Bean was 3-for-4 with three RBI. Presley Humphrey hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. 

McLennan won game two 16-10. The Highlanders scored six runs in the third and four in the seventh. 

Bean was 3-for-3 with four RBI.  

The Coyotes are 10-6 overall. MCC improved to 24-1. The two teams will play again in Waco on Saturday in a noon doubleheader.
