WC softball splits with NCTC

Weatherford College and North Central Texas College split a softball doubleheader Saturday at Stuart Field. 

WC won the first game 4-2. Lindsey Oliver earned the win, giving up two hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking three.  

Weatherford's Sadie Reid was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Texas Ray went 2-for-3 with an RBI. 

Game two went to NCTC, 3-1. The Lions hit two home runs. 

Ray was 2-for-3 with an RBI for WC. Kaela Gillis was also 2-for-3. 

McKayla Fish went five innings, giving up six hits, three runs and two walks. Caydin Blackmon was effective in relief, holding the Lions to zero hits and zero walks while striking out three in two innings. 

The Coyotes are 16-14 overall and 4-8 in conference play. 

Next up for WC is No. 4 Temple College, with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against the Leopards Wednesday at Stuart Field and another doubleheader Friday in Temple.
