Lady Coyotes beat Hill, men lose in OT

Weatherford College upset Hill College, the top women's basketball team in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference, 84-80 Wednesday in the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center.

WC was led by 23 points and 10 rebounds from Jasmyne Robinson. The sophomore guard is the top scorer in the NTJCAC, averaging 18.1 points per game.

Adela Valkova, the No. 3 rebounder in the conference, contributed 15 points and seven rebounds. Celise Bobbitt scored 12 points.

The win pulled the Lady Coyotes (11-6 overall, 5-3 conference) within one game of Hill and Grayson, who share the NTJCAC lead at 6-2.

Hill won the men's game in overtime, 97-89, despite 33 points from Weatherford's Matthew Okoye. The freshman from Sugarland hit three three-pointers in the first quarter alone and scored five points in overtime.

WC's Aaron Heft added 21 points and Dillion Bennett had 10.

The Coyotes fell to 11-9 overall and 2-5 in conference.

The Lady Coyotes are scheduled to travel to Cisco College Saturday. Both teams will host McLennan Community College Monday night at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center, with the women tipping off at 5 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m.
