Lady Coyotes look to bounce back

Lady Coyotes look to bounce back

It's not often the Weatherford College Lady Coyotes aren't competing in the regional tournament in the postseason. In fact, you can count on one hand the times it's happened in head coach Bob McKinley's career and you'd still have some fingers left over.

But it happened this season as the Lady Coyotes finished 13-15 overall and 6-10 in the Northern Texas Junior Athletic Conference.

The story might have been different had a shot or two more gone in. The Lady Coyotes were 3-2 in games decided by five points or less, a short distance from eight league wins and a possible postseason berth.

The season began promising enough with five wins in their first seven games. Then came seven losses in the next nine games.

Three wins in the following four games revived hopes as their record was 10-10, but three losses down the stretch ended the season.

The Lady Coyotes' roster featured four freshmen and five sophomores. As they attempt to return to the success of so many years, should those freshmen return they displayed promise, with some among the team's statistical leaders.
