Despite a 26-point performance from Selina Gutierrez, the Weatherford College women's basketball team lost to Cisco College on Saturday at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center, 75-69.
Cisco jumped out to a 42-26 lead at the half and withstood a late WC rally. The Lady Coyotes out-scored the Lady Wranglers 43-33 in the second half.
Gutierrez was 5-of-9 from the three-point range and pulled down five rebounds. Janavia Gage turned in a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Deja Lumsden had 13 points and five rebounds. Trinitee Johnson had eight points and 14 rebounds.
The Lady Coyotes are 6-12 overall and 1-4 in conference play. Cisco improved to 13-6 overall and 3-2 in conference.
Because Cisco does not field a men's team, the WC men hosted CYM Prep and won 104-84. Jamie Hodges and Marcus-Myen King-Danchie had 22 points each.
Both WC teams travel to Terrell to face Southwestern Christian College Wednesday. The next home games are Saturday, Feb. 17, against Collin College.
